If you own a PSP you might want to uh, make sure your battery doesn't expand

It's almost as if I felt a wave of collective "oh ours" this morning as everyone on the internet rushed to check their PSPs.

As IT Media pointed out, cases of PSP owners reporting that their cases are open due to battery extension have increased in recent weeks. I went to check mine right away (one slim and one regular): you'll notice the 3.6v 1200mAh battery on the former and the 3.6v 1800mAh on the latter (which fits snugly). Take a look at the images linked in the previous passage in case you need help locating your battery. Here is an image of a battery that has gone horribly wrong.

Now that's not bad for lithium batteries. I've experienced this before with older phones and wireless headsets. But it's a good reminder nonetheless to check your stash and make sure everything is ready. Sony issued a statement to IT Media, noting that people should "refrain from using [the system] when the battery has swollen," and not play with the battery cover removed. Make sure you dispose of it properly.

Sony should bring Marcus back to do PSA videos for battery safety.
