There is no winning formula when it comes to the new Warzone Battle Royale mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Pulling and maneuvering everyone is just one factor – even a beginner can last all the way to the final circle if you keep a few important tips in mind.

There are a lot of unexplained tutorials when it comes to Warzone, and a few secrets you may never see. Did you know you can haul vehicles in the bed of your truck – creating a mobile secondary escape vector for your team? Did you know that you can actually complete Gulag matches peacefully so everyone wins? Yes really.

I'm exploring all the tips and tricks I picked up during the game's opening hours - it took a lot of experimenting and a lot of dying. Some of these tips are specifically for new Battle Royale players, while others are 100% specific to this game, which you might never realize in 100 hours of play. There's a lot to explore here, so let's get started.

Modern Warfare: Warzone – 12 tips and tricks to help you survive the competition | Beginner's Guide

#1: Play aggressively and don't get into an extended shootout. Your health regenerates instantly after a kill – so you better try to score kills fast. There are no health gains in the game, just a Stim. You will regenerate hit points no matter what you do, but kills you regenerate instantly.

    # 2: Just because you see someone doesn't mean you have to start shooting. Avoid all contact and always imagine that you are being watched – move cautiously, take cover and try to engage when you are in an advantageous position. In a firefight, don't lean twice in the same spot. When you trade fire, it's best to get in close and kill the flank. If you are at a disadvantage, in poor cover while your opponents are shooting accurately from a great position, it might be best to just retreat.

    # 3: It is practice makes perfect. If you want to practice your shooting skills, go straight to a hotspot – an area where lots of other players are falling at the same time. You will learn how to loot quickly, eliminate your opponents faster and improve your Battle Royale skills. It's a good way to get a good burst of play – and it's important to develop your skills. You don't want to hide all the way to get crushed by a well-equipped team.

    # 4: Double-click Ping to create a hostile ping marker. Press (Up) on the D-Pad to ping – you can mark your map, objects in the environment, enemies, or just spots on the ground. Normally a single press Ping will create a green ping marker at a location, telling your team to move there. If you want to mark a dangerous spot where you spotted enemies, place a hostile ping marker with the double-click.

    # 5: Stay with your team! Before moving around the map, mark a location by bringing up your map and pinging a spot. Work together, drop ammo, share loot locations, and revive teammates when they're down. It is better to fight together. You will die if you separate.

    # 6: You can set a loadout with all your weapons/gear unlocked before you even start a match. Why? Due to Loading Drops. To summon a Cargo Depot, you must find or purchase a Cargo Depot marker. You can buy them on Buy Stations or find them. They are rare and only appear after the collapse of the first circle and before the collapse of the final circle. Loadout drops are dropped into the map much, much faster than Care Packages. It doesn't matter who interacts, even if you didn't call the drop, any operator can use the drop-outs.

#seven: Hilariously, you can transport other vehicles with the truck. The truck bed is large enough for the ATV, Tactical Rover or SUV to fit in the back. Drive it up there and you'll have a secondary escape vehicle for your team to use. Vehicles will actually stay in the back. You can also instantly switch between the driver's seat and the passenger seat - letting you lose control of the vehicle for a few seconds, but giving you a chance to heal with a Stim, throw a grenade, or shoot an enemy before to go back.

    # 8: Vehicles are not always the best choice. Not only do they have a high profile and they're loud, vehicles appear instantly on enemy minimaps. Watching out for red vehicle markers is a great way to defeat your enemies – when the vehicle marker disappears from your minimap, you'll know exactly where the team landed.

    # 9: The new Gulag mode pits you against players in random 1v1 battles to claim a redeploy token, but sometimes a little kindness is the best option. If both players refuse to fight and wait for the clock together, both players will earn a redeployment token. Seriously. However, this requires serious trust.

#ten: There is Buy stations everywhere – you will see them on your map. You can buy Killstreaks, Loadout Drops and Redeployment Tokens. You earn money by completing contracts, looting, or marking kills. You should always save your money for valuable redeployment tokens – you can't trust your teammates to earn one in the Gulag! Save some money and get those tokens when you can.

    # 11: Buy stations are prime locations for campers. Buy stations are marked on the minimap and players will be distracted when looking for the exact location. Make sure your team watches your back when using a buy station, and approach buy stations carefully – crafty campers won't just sit on the station itself, they'll hide in a nearby building and will ambush you.

    # 12: The circle collapse is extremely deadly in Warzone. You can't use the collapsed circle to hide, and you won't see any firefights taking place outside of the circle. The circle is quite slow, so you'll always be able to get past it - but if you get caught outside, you'll be dead in seconds. Gas masks can be equipped, and these only give a few extra moments in green gas.

With these simple tips, you should have a fighting chance in Battle Royale. Lock and load, operator.
