Marvel MMO from online developer DC Universe

DC Universe Online developer Dimensional Ink hosted an investor presentation showcasing their upcoming plans and listed a future Marvel MMO or, as they put it, a "Marvel IP-based massively multiplayer online game."

The Marvel MMO is being developed by Daybreak Game's Dimensional Ink in Austin, TX. As revealed in its parent company Enad Global 7's financial presentations for the third quarter of 2022, the game has been placed under its "long-term" games. This could mean the game won't be available to players until at least 2023.

Twitter poster @mmmmmmmiller noticed the game listed as seen below.

EG7 (parent company of DCUO/Everquest devs) released its financials for the third quarter of 21 and confirmed that the unannounced AAA Marvel MMO that featured in the GeForce Now leak and was canceled in 2022 as the studio made facing financial difficulties has officially been DISMISSED! !

The next Marvel game will be "directed by Emmert, who designed and directed City of Heroes, and currently directs DCUO." Emmert leads DC Universe online for those unfamiliar with the game.

In the list of “longer term” projects under “Unannounced MMORPG” is the following:

  • Massively multiplayer online game based on Marvel IP
  • Under development by Dimensional Ink Studios in Austin, TX
  • Directed by Emmert, who designed and directed City ofHeroes, and currently directs DCUO

Although it's included in the slate of projects, it's important not to get too high hopes for the Marvel MMO. It's not the first game attempt. In 2022, Daybreak Game Company was working on a Marvel MMO, but the project was canceled and led to layoffs. Marvel MMO leader Emmert has also tried to get the project off the ground in the past. The company he co-founded, Cryptic Studios, began developing Marvel Universe Online in 2022 before being discontinued in 2022 by Microsoft.

A few other notable additions to the presentation include a "major overhaul to upgrade the visuals, modernize the experience and release on consoles" for The Lord of the Rings Online as the live-action series nears. Amazon. DC Universe Online will also benefit from "an investment in the most significant graphical upgrade and expansion content yet for 2023". for his 10th birthday.
